July '05 - 1st UK Christian Newspaper designed by amadidesign.
amadidesign was approached by Anthea Newman to design
and market the first credible Christian based newspaper.
Kelechi Amadi, Director, amadidesign, says: "Our
main objective was to create a paper that would appeal
to the 100's of Christian denominations: both visually
and intellectually. As you could imagine, this was no
mean feat. If that wasn't a challenge in itself, imagine
being given a deadline of 4 days to turn the whole thing
around - from conception to completion. Needless to say
we completed on time, with seconds to spare. To be honest,
I'd have to say that I thought that meeting that deadline
was up there with 'Jesus turning water into wine'. Well,
almost..."
The decision was made early on for the paper to have a
‘compact’ format – a mix of broadsheet
and tabloid - with a heavy emphasis on commentary, as
opposed to news. The content of The Vine is: Politics;
lifestyle; commentary; business, domestic & international
news; ethics; and features.
Issue 1 has been very well received, with many interested
groups signing up in advance for the 2nd issue . amadidesign
has had significant input into The Vine's content, conceptualising,
and distribution, and continues to advise on its marketing,
in the crucial early days of publication.
